While learning is a natural process, not everyone learns exactly the same way. So we decided to adopt the Experiential Learning Model developed by educator David Kolb. In this unique and effective way of learning, IBOLT designs activities and experiences in each of our IBOLT Learning Modules that address the learning needs of each type of student.

There are four learning dimensions in this learning model:
1. Concrete experience: Learning from specific experiences, relating to people, examining reactions to shared events.

2. Reflective observation: Careful observation of learning material, pausing to consider other perspectives, and exploration for discovery of meaning.

3. Abstract conceptualization: Logical analysis of new ideas, estimating ways in which a new strategy may be implemented, acting on intellectual understanding of a situation.

4. Active experimentation: Application of the new material to a known context or experimentation with new learning in an unfamiliar setting.
You can learn more about Kolb’s style of learning by visiting www.hayresourcesdirect.haygroup.com or try searching for "David Kolb + learning style" an Internet search engine.
