Vanguard Offers Modular Courses in February and May 2011:
Students studying with Vanguard College online through IBOLT can take advantage of these courses taught in class in one week blocks.  These courses may be credited to program requirements or can even be audited for the casual student who is looking to take courses for personal interest.

The following courses are scheduled to be offered in 2011*

February 14 - February 18 (8:00 am - 3:30 pm)

INTRODUCTION to WORLD MISSIONS
3 cr. hrs
This undergraduate level course is a biblical, historical, and cultural analysis of the impact of the world Christian movement. Specific attention is given to strategy and the imperative of bringing the Gospel to groups that have yet to initially receive it.

TEAM EVANGELISM & DISCIPLESHIP
3 cr. hrs
This course will focus on two areas: First, discipleship training as ministry preparation. Second, team ministry; including such areas as team recruitment, team preparation, team ministry locally and overseas, and team leadership. The course develops the practical tools of discipleship and team ministry for effective youth ministry.

SCIENCE & RELIGION
3 cr. hrs
This course examines the nature of both science and religion and attempts to explore the relationship between them. Its primary purpose is to dispel the popular myth that religion and science are antithetical. As a result, this course argues that if the limits of both religion and science are respected, then their relationship is not only complementary, but also necessary.

May 2 - May 6, 2011 (8:00 am - 3:30 pm)

CHILDREN AT RISK
3 cr. hrs
Professor:
Cherilyn Orr (M.A. Christian Education, BRE, ECE)

The course will give an overview of how to work effectively with children within a variety of mission field scenarios. In particular, it will provide theoretical and practical insights into working with children in a cross cultural setting, and with a special focus on working with children at risk.

May 9 - May 13, 2011 (8:00 am - 3:30 pm)

PRE-MARRIAGE & MARRIAGE
3 cr. hrs
In this course we will look at a theology of marriage & family and the history of what was taught to the youth and children in the church. This course will explore the important principles of pre-marriage and
marriage ministries. Students will learn some practical ideas for creating and developing a pre-marriage and marriage program within the church. Students will spend some time addressing issues concerning
the building of strong marriages. This course is offered in May as a one-week modular course.

May 9 - June 3, 2011 (8:00 am - 3:30 pm)

TESOL (4 courses + 2 practicum)
